Since ancient times the city of Tver was one of the centers of Orthodox culture, so many ancient temples, monasteries and cathedrals are preserved here. In Tver, there are more than thirty religious buildings of the Russian Orthodox Church – cathedrals, churches, chapels, monasteries. They belong to the Tver Diocese of the Moscow Patriarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church. In addition, the city has three churches of other denominations – the Catholic Church, a mosque and a synagogue. In the city of Tver, there is a diocesan administration of the Tver and Kashin diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church.
